Learner and Academic Policies
- Global Alumni is committed to maintaining the confidentiality of our learners’ personal information and records. Global Alumni undertakes not to divulge such information to any unauthorized third party without the prior consent of the learner or on any legal basis.
- In compliance with applicable data protection regulations, Global Alumni follows the below guidelines in handling learners’ personal information and records
- Learners’ information and records will be used for the purpose of academic program / course delivery and related administrative support activates such as conducting internal analysis, generating reports for authorized internal or external (such as auditors, government agencies, academic partners) parties.
- Access to learner information and records is limited to authorized Global Alumni staff or faculty members in carrying out the delivery of programs and courses to its learners.
- Please refer to our Privacy Policy for information on how we collect, store, use, disclose, cohort change and dispose of your personal data.
- Global Alumni is committed to providing a positive learning experience for learners. All grievances and reports of grievances are treated with strict confidence. Such information will only be shared with authorized personnel or related third parties (such as the Singapore Committee for Private Education (CPE) or the Global Alumni, Academic & Examination Board) on a need-to-know basis
- In the event that learners have any grievances:
- They are encouraged to seek initial assistance and advice from the course support team at Global Alumni.
- Alternatively learners can also speak or write to Global Alumni’s Participant Support Team.
- All issues of grievances raised in writing should include the learners’ names and cohort details (if applicable) as the team will not respond to any anonymous feedback or complaints.
- An appointment will be arranged for learners to connect with a senior member of the Participant Support Team for counselling and a follow-up on the issues of grievances. This can be arranged through a web-based meeting platform or over the phone.
- Global Alumni will inform learners of the outcome/status/findings of any review and investigation in writing and together with any necessary actions taken, where applicable.
- Depending on the complexity of the grievances, Global Alumni may take between three (3) to twenty (20) working days to conclude any grievances put forth. Global Alumni will aim to conclude any necessary review and investigation in the most effective and efficient manner. These will be carried out in a fair and transparent way.
- Based on the findings, Global Alumni will take appropriate follow-up actions to resolve the issues raised.
- In the event that any grievances cannot be resolved with Global Alumni in accordance with the Grievance Policy above, Global Alumni and the learners may refer the dispute to the Singapore Mediation Centre (SMC) or Singapore Institute of Arbitrators (SIArb) through the Singapore Committee for Private Education (CPE) Learner Services Centre for mediation. In the event that the grievances cannot be resolved following the preceding processes, either party can initiate legal actions / proceedings.
Learners who enroll in a Global Alumni course or attend a Global Alumni event agree to the following Learner Code of Conduct:
- Learners will be respectful and conduct themselves professionally while at Global Alumni or in the community (working with recruiters, going to events or meetups, etc.).
- Learners will interact with Global Alumni staff, faculty, and my fellow classmates in a courteous and respectful manner. Learners will not disrupt or obstruct the teaching, learning, or administration of Global Alumni programs or the learning experience of other learners.
- Learners will respect the rights, feelings, dignity, health, safety, privacy, racial and ethnic diversity, cultures, and opinions of others.
- Learners will not add to or create a hostile or intimidating learning and work environment for Global Alumni staff, faculty and fellow classmates.
- Learners will not engage in unwelcome or unlawful harassment of Global Alumni staff, faculty and fellow learners. Unlawful harassment includes, but is not limited to, offensive comments; slurs; derogatory remarks; inappropriate physical contact; unwelcome conduct of a sexual nature; unwelcome sexual advances or requests for sexual favors; and stereotypes, jokes, images, posters or cartoons based on race, national origin, age, disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or other legally protected categories;
- Learners will use a single account on this platform and provide accurate information about themselves.
- Learners acknowledge that they must complete all the coursework themselves and that no outside parties may use their learner dashboard or submit work on their behalf.
- Learners will not share account credentials with anyone or allow anyone to access the Global Alumni platform with their account.
- Learners will not reproduce content from a Global Alumni program or from other learners unless expressly allowed under the copyright terms laid out by the program administrator.
- Learners will not commit any acts of falsity including, but not limited to, cheating, plagiarism, forgery, or other acts of behavioral or academic dishonesty. Learners will not submit the work of others as Learner’s own work, share solutions to homework assignments or exams, or engage in any activity that will improve or harm others’ scores. Learner will not misrepresent Learner’s education or experience to employers, recruiters, or anyone else.
- Learners acknowledge that failing to abide by these policies may result in consequences up to and including dismissal from the Global Alumni program. Additional consequences could include zero grades on an assignment, having a certificate of completion revoked, and removal from the Global Alumni platform, among other consequences.
- Violations of this Learner Code of Conduct will be reviewed by the Global Alumni academic support team. Learners will be notified of any infractions via the email they used to enroll. The course of action determined by Global Alumni is not subject to appeal.
- Learners who are dismissed for violation of these policies are not entitled to a refund.
- Each occurrence of misconduct is dealt with based on consideration of the situations surrounding the case and in accordance with the policy of Global Alumni.
- All details regarding the learner and the case will be dealt with fairly and confidentially and will only be shared with relevant personnel within Global Alumni on a need-to-know basis.
- The learner will not be regarded as having committed the alleged misconduct until investigation proves so.
- Knowledge of learners’ previous behavior will not be assumed to be evidence that the learner would behave in the same manner, although previous patterns of behavior will be taken into consideration.
- Learners are to be informed of their rights and responsibilities in relation to the investigation of misconduct.
- Global Alumni reserve the right to suspend or dismiss learners who:
- Commit academic misconduct or violate any rules, regulations and code of conduct.
- Fail to meet satisfactory academic progress.
- Fail to fulfil their financial obligations to Global Alumni.
- Fail to provide requested documents in a timely manner as requested by Global Alumni.
- Provide false documents or fraudulent information.
- Any other action that may be decided to be suspended or dismissed by Global Alumni
- Global Alumni will exercise the following disciplinary actions for any action in violation of Global Alumni’ policy and regulation:
- Verbal warning from authorized Global Alumni’ staff
- Written warning
- Grade deduction as per grading policy
- Suspension
- Dismissal
- Any other disciplinary actions which shall be decided by Global Alumni based on circumstances.
- In any case that learners find the decisions made to be unjust, they may submit a written appeal within 10 working days after receiving the notification of disciplinary action from Global Alumni.
- Global Alumni will review the appeal and inform learners of the outcome within four weeks after receiving the appeal request from learners.
- Policy Communication: Global Alumni Withdrawal, Refund and Deferral policies are communicated to all learners (both existing and prospective) via the Global Alumni website and Learning Management System. It is the learner’s responsibility to review, be aware of and adhere to these policies.
- Withdrawal for Non-delivery of Course: Global Alumni will notify learners in writing if (a) the course will not commence on the scheduled course commencement date; (b) the course will not be completed by the scheduled course completion date. Within three (3) working days of such notice, Global Alumni will inform learners in writing of any available alternative study arrangements.
If a learner declines the offered alternative study arrangements, if any, or desires to otherwise withdraw from the course for the reasons stated in paragraph 2 above, the learner shall request a withdrawal from Global Alumni within fifteen (15) calendar days. Upon receipt of the withdrawal request and validation of eligibility, Global Alumni shall refund the learner 100% of course. Global Alumni shall use commercially reasonable efforts to make such refund within seven (7) working days from receipt of the withdrawal request from the learner.
- Withdrawal for Other Reasons: If the learner wishes to withdraw from the course for any reason other than those stated in paragraph 2 above, the following provisions shall control all withdrawal requests:
In the absence of a previous approved request for deferral for the course, learners may request a full refund of the courses fees paid, within seven (7) days after course commencement. Learners who have previously been granted a course deferral are not eligible for a refund for the course. Partial (or pro-rated) refunds are not offered. Global Alumni shall use commercially reasonable efforts to make a valid refund within seven (7) working days from receipt of the withdrawal request from the learner.

All refunds will be paid directly to the original payer only, unless written and signed instructions are provided by the original payer to pay the refund to an account belonging to a person other than the original payer.
- Bank Charges/Transaction Fees: In the event of an approved refund, Global Alumni will refund the course fee collected and will not be liable to refund any foreign transaction fees, processing charges, or any other bank fees.
- Deferrals: A learner may request a one-time-per-enrolment deferralof a Course to the next available cohort of the same course. Such deferral is contingent upon (i) program availability; (ii) approval of a valid deferral request; (iii) payment of all pending course fee instalments as per original course scheduled date; and (iv) payment of the following non-refundable deferral fee, if applicable.

- Policy Communication: Global Alumni Withdrawal, Refund and Deferral policies are communicated to all learners (both existing and prospective) via the Global Alumni website and Learning Management System. It is the learner’s responsibility to review, be aware of and adhere to these policies.
- On-Campus Visit to the School: If the program includes an on-campus component in a country other than the learner’s place of residence, the learner is responsible for ensuring the following:
- The learner is eligible to travel to the host country and is not subject to any known visa restrictions that would prevent entry.
- The learner has reviewed and understands the latest entry requirements, screening procedures, and visa or immigration processes for the host country.
- Failure to attend the on-campus component, if mandatory, may result in ineligibility to complete the program or receive a certificate of completion. No refunds will be issued in such cases.
- Withdrawal for Non-delivery of Program: Global Alumni will notify learners in writing if (a) the program will not commence on the scheduled course commencement date; (b) the program will not be completed by the scheduled program completion date; or (c) the learner does not meet the program entry or matriculation requirement as set by Global Alumni or the university. Within three (3) working days of such notice, Global Alumni will inform learners in writing of any available alternative study arrangements.
If a learner declines the offered alternative study arrangements, if any, or desires to otherwise withdraw from the program for the reasons stated in paragraph 3 above, the learner shall request a withdrawal from Global Alumni within fifteen (15) calendar days. - Whenever applicable as determined on a course by course basis, Global Alumni adopts a Learning Management System (LMS), which is a customized deployment of Instructure’s Canvas LMS to assist learners to keep track of their attendance and grades at any point in time. The information on Canvas is confidential. Each learner has their own individual log-in details.
- Learners must comply with the course completion policies outlined the the course or programs.
Global Alumni is not recognized as an accredited educational institution under U.S. IRS regulations or by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). As a result, we are unable to issue IRS Form 1098-T or CRA Form TL11A for tuition payments.
Most of the programs at Global Alumni are run on a cohort basis. Peer engagements for each cohort are expected to be intensive. Therefore, learners are expected to adhere to the timeframe given for each program as stated in the learner’s contract. No extension of duration for completion is allowed except where exceptional valid reasons are provided.
- Learners who are identified as not meeting the minimum satisfactory academic progress may be deemed for exclusion. Global Alumni will notify learners in writing of this decision at least 10 working days before the exclusion date.
- In general, a learner may be determined to not meet the minimum satisfactory academic performance in their study if they:
- Do not achieve the minimum grade requirement to graduate.
- Commit serious academic and/or violate any rules, regulations and code of conduct.
- Other reasons that may be advised by Global Alumni on a case-by-case basis.
- Global Alumni acknowledges learners’ right to appeal against any decision made by Global Alumni on their progression. Learners can submit an Appeal Application to us.
- The Appeal Application needs to include the following documents:
- An appeal letter/email explaining the reason(s) for appealing against any decision by Global Alumni on their progression.
- Supporting documents where applicable.
- Any other document(s) that may be required by Global Alumni.
- Global Alumni’s Learner Support Team will evaluate and decide on each appeal case.
- Grades and/or evaluations, whenever applicable, are provided to learners via Global Alumni’s LMS with their individual log-in and password. Learners will be able to see their grades for each course assessment component (such as quizzes and assignments) as well as total grades for the course.
- Grades and/or evaluations, whenever applicable, are either published immediately (such as quizzes) or within 30 days of marking (such as assignments).
- Learner Progress Reports can be accessed, viewed and printed out from each learner’s individual Canvas login.
- Most of the programs at Global Alumni are run on a cohort basis. Where programs are run on a cohort basis, peer engagement within each cohort is expected to be intensive. Therefore, learners are expected to complete their programs with their cohort.
- Cohort change between programs is strictly not allowed once a learner has commenced with their chosen program.
- Cohort change–Under special circumstances that may impede a learner’s ability to continue with the course, the learner may submit a request for a cohort change to another intake in writing to Global Alumni. Global Alumni will review the request and inform learners of the outcome of the review. There will be no cohort change for self-paced Certificate Courses.
- Withdrawal–Global Alumni respects learners’ decision to withdraw due to personal or professional circumstances that prevents them from continuing with their studies.
Learners who satisfy all the requirements for completion of programs delivered by Global Alumni will be awarded the relevant credentials. The Program Support Team will advise on the timeframe learners can expect to receive the relevant credentials.
